A salon without phone lines...

 

A while ago we had a boiler failure in the salon which brought the business to a complete halt. Fast forward 2 years, just to keep us on our toes, it was the turn of the telephone lines.

“Annoying – but can’t be that bad” we thought. We were with the Biggest Telecom company and they fix faults pretty fast for business customers…..how wrong we were.We were transferring to another company, a smaller & cheaper one than what we were used to. The transfer would be seamless with no inconvenience but to be on the safe side we chose to transfer on a Monday – our closed day.

Things didn’t go to plan. Our lines transferred but we couldn’t make or receive calls. A quick call to the new company would sort that out we thought. But what began next was a constant round robin of speaking with both old & new suppliers trying to find out where the problem was. This went on for 2 days! No way of accepting bookings from clients! This was bad. We had customers driving to the salon to check we were still here as the phone number they were trying was dead.

We weren’t getting anywhere with the old company but the new suppliers were great. Hour by hour they were updating us with progress and discovering as time went by where the faults were. It transpired the old supplier made a catalogue of errors with the lines and transfer. Each stage of the transfer was held up by the errors the old company were making.

In the end we got our lines back some 50 hours after they first failed. It’s taken another couple of days for the salon to get anywhere back to normal. It’s a situation we hope never to have to go through again.

We hope it didn’t cause too much inconvenience for you. As soon as we realised the scale of the problem we used our home page, facebook & twitter (follow us in future) to relay the news to you. We posted notices in all the local Japanese businesses too.

Now everything is getting back to normal we have no doubts about our new supplier or recommending them to anyone. They are Amelix, they are cheaper than the big guys and give a more personal service. They charge UK calls at just 1p a minute and don’t have any minimum charges nor call set-up fees. They accept residential customers as well as business ones but more importantly they go the extra mile.
